Poster 25: Talking Our Way to Better Care: Enhancing patient experience and strengthening therapeutic and interprofessional communication within subacute geriatric rehabilitation

Our geriatric rehabilitation program is focused on improving patient experience by enhancing patient and staff communication. These creative, simple, and fun initiatives resulted in improved patient experience, better communication, and increased staff engagement particularly for our nursing team. Our clinical nurses are emerging as rehabilitation leaders and experts.

Ericha Seidenz, RN, BScN, MScN, Bruyere Health
Ericha is a master’s prepared registered nurse with expertise in geriatric rehabilitation and adult education. After working as a clinical nurse at Bruyère Health for over seven years, she joined Nursing Professional Practice in October 2021 as a Nursing Practice Leader. She is dedicated to advancing the professional development of rehabilitation nurses, supporting quality and patient experience.

Dr. Soha Shah, BMBS, CCFP(COE), Physician, Bruyère Health, Ottawa
Dr. Soha Shah is a family physician with specialized training in Care of the Elderly. She has been working with the Geriatric Rehabilitation Service at Bruyere Health since 2021 and is a faculty member with the University of Ottawa. She has been the Quality lead since November 2023 and has collaborated on a variety of projects and publications.
