Findings from phenomenology show new graduate nurses (re)entering the workforce in LTC and HCC after completing a bridging program was associated with a ‘felt’ sense of fulfillment, accentuated by the theme of ‘building from within’.
Denise Connelly, PhD, PT, Western University
Dr. Denise Connelly is an Associate Professor at the School of Physical Therapy, Western University, London, Ontario, Canada. She obtained her BScPT, MSc in Physical Therapy, and PhD in Kinesiology from Western University. Professor Connelly engages with community partners to address the ongoing nursing workforce crisis affecting care provision for older adults living in the long-term care and home and community care sectors. Professor Connelly’s research contributes to knowledge about building the nursing workforce through nurse career-bridging initiatives, recruitment and retention of new nurse graduates, resilience in nurses, and inclusion of family/care partners with health professionals in care of older adults.
