Fostering leadership potential in clinical nursing externs through peer mentorship of newly hired externs

Nicole Bradbury, RN, BScN, MScN(c), North York General Hospital
Nicole is currently working as an educator for the Clinical Extern and IEN SPEP programs at North York General Hospital. Nicole’s clinical background is in Neonatal Intensive Care, and she is currently completing a Master of Science in Nursing at York University with an emphasis on teaching-learning. She has a passion for education and particularly supporting new learners, having completed various roles as a clinical instructor and was a mentee in the Simulation mentorship program at NYGH.

Sherwin Pizarro, RN, BScN, MScN(c), North York General Hospital
Sherwin Pizarro is an educator for the Clinical Nurse Extern and Internationally Educated Nurse Supervised Practice Experience Partnership (SPEP) program at North York General Hospital. He obtained his BScN from Toronto Metropolitan University (Ryerson University) in 2010. He has 14 years of nursing experience, working in Complex Continuing Care, Med-Surg, Cardiology, Emergency and Critical Care. He completed his Critical Care certificate in 2015 and was a George Brown College Clinical Facilitator for their Critical Care certificate program in 2023. Currently, he is pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing at York University, while also spending his free time exploring with his family and playing with his cat.
