This report presents how virtual collective empowerment facilitated the development of an innovative pathway to build a community of support for the transition of twenty-five Internationally Educated Nurses and their families from Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Tanzania, and Pakistan into the Canadian workplace, in Newfoundland & Labrador.
Dilshad Pirani, RN, RM, BScN, MN,PhD
Ms. Pirani is an exceptional healthcare leader with extensive education, administrative operations, and healthcare service delivery experience. She brings over 20 years of experience working with diverse patient populations and healthcare teams in Pakistan, the United States, Canada, Tanzania, and Qatar. Highly effective in creating a community of support facilitating a team-oriented work environment, focusing on recruitment and retention strategies, staff engagement, and offering professional counseling and mentoring nurses locally and internationally.
Sajida Salman Chagani, RN, BScN, MScN, FHEA
Ms. Chagani is a seasoned nursing professional with extensive experience in academia and healthcare management. With a Master’s in Science of Clinical Nursing (MSCN) and a Bachelor’s in Science of Nursing (BSCN), with a robust foundation in both clinical practice and nursing education. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and committed to advancing nursing education and practice.
As a former Joint Faculty and Senior Instructor at the Aga Khan University School of Nursing and Midwifery, she contributed significantly to shaping the next generation of nurses and also served as the Nurse Manager for the Division of Nursing Services at Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi, Pakistan, led nursing teams, improved patient care delivery, and implemented innovative nursing strategies.
She is also one of the nurses who experienced the innovative pathway to build a community of support and arrived in Newfoundland and Labrador last year and committed in advancing her nursing career in Canada.
