E2: If Not NOW, When? A Hospital’s Journey through Transformational System Change

No One Waits focuses on transitioning hospital patients within 2 hours. Widespread consultation with care teams, ownership of the vision and solutions, a steadfast adherence to a change framework, and commitment to quality care and employee well-being, were factors that contributed to the success of of this system wide transformation.

Bob De Raad, RN, BScN MHS ENC (c), Vice-President, Clinical Services, Bluewater Health

Bob has had a diverse career in healthcare, and a long history with BWH, acting as the Director of Medicine and Rural Health for the past seven years, and as Manager of BWH’s Emergency Department from 2006-2011.

Bob has a proven record of successfully spearheading provincially recognized quality improvement and health system integration plans. He has demonstrated continuous commitment to quality care at BWH, with a focus on developing high-functioning interdisciplinary teams. Bob is a life-long learner dedicated to working collaboratively across all levels of leadership. He earned his Master of Health Studies, and is an alumna of the University of Rotman’s Advanced Health Leadership Program.  

Julie Acker, MSW RSW, Specialist in Culture and Development, Bluewater Health

Julie is a registered Social Worker and Organizational Development practitioner committed to leadership development, organizational culture, employee engagement, and resilience. Julie was also a key member of the Collaborative Facilitation Team for the NOW initiative as a Project Manager.
