A3: Preparing Canada’s Health Care Systems for Net-Zero: A Nursing Lens

We aim to present our first year deliverables from our three year implementation readiness project to undertake climate change mitigation initiatives in different Canadian healthcare contexts. This presentation aims to uncover strategies that can be involved in nursing practice.

June Kaminski has a Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and is a PhD Candidate in the Faculty of Education, Curriculum Studies at UBC. She is the Project Coordinator for the Preparing Canada’s Health Care Buildings for Net-Zero project for the Canadian Coalition for Green Health Care to support Canadian health care agencies and organizations to undertake net-zero transitions and mitigation. June has worked with the Canadian Association of Nurses for the Environment for the past fourteen years in a variety of roles and worked in nursing education and research for 35 years. This includes working as a Research Coordinator at Arthritis Research Canada to develop and pilot culturally relevant arthritis wellness programs in partnership with First Nations communities. She is also the Editor in Chief of the Canadian Journal of Nursing Informatics and the Online Journal of Nursing Informatics.

Elizaveta Zvereva, PhD Candidate, Hamilton Family Health Team
Elizaveta (Liza) Zvereva has a Bachelor of Arts and Science from McMaster University and Master of Science in Earth Sciences from the University of Toronto. She is currently a PhD Candidate in the faculty of Medicine’s Global Health Program at McMaster University. Liza is a Project Coordinator for the Green Initiative at the Hamilton Family Health Team supporting the implementation of Green Initiatives into Primary Care Practices.
