2017 Education and Research Awards Recipients

Full-Time Education Award

AshAsh Alywin

Ash is a McMaster alumnus who started with a BSc in Life Sciences before pursuing nursing. She has since earned a BScN, post-grad Critical Care Nursing Certificate and the Certified Nurse in Critical Care Designation from the Canadian Nurses Association. Ash is a first-generation postsecondary student who grew up with strong family role models who encouraged her to pursue continuous learning and leadership initiatives. She is now pursuing a full-time Masters of Health Science in Health Administration from the University of Toronto while continuing to work full-time in family practice and casually in critical care.

 

 

Dorothy Wylie Graduate Fellowship Award

Angel Wang1Angel He Wang

Angel He Wang is currently pursuing her Master of Nursing degree at Ryerson University where her research thesis focuses on how to promote resilience, mental well-being, and quality of life in family caregivers of individuals living with dementia with the use of mHealth technologies, an emerging form of assistive technology. She hopes to improve accessibility and reduce health disparities among the elderly population and those experiencing mental health issues by advocating for policy changes that will enhance healthcare delivery methods through research and community involvement.

Gillian StrudwickGillian Strudwick

Gillian Strudwick is currently a doctoral student in nursing at the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto, and an Advanced Practice Clinical Leader for Research and Innovation at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto.
