Knowledge, power and ignorance dynamics remain largely concealed in healthcare organizations. This presentation, based on my PhD research, discusses how nurse executives manage knowledge flows, interruptions and obstacles that foster specific ways of thinking, speaking and acting in healthcare organizations and their ability to exercise power.

She is a self-employed RN, who recently completed her PhD in Nursing Philosophy. She focuses on community health nursing and health care policy and planning. She was Chair of the Chronic Disease Prevention Alliance of Canada from 2016-2018. As a Senior Nurse at the Canadian Nurses Association for ten years she was responsible for their leadership, professional development, and accreditation programs; advancing policy priorities; and fostering strategic alliances. Prior to CNA, she worked at Ottawa Public Health as the Clinical Nurse Specialist responsible for nursing staff development, pandemic preparedness, and research initiatives. She has also worked as a Home Care Case Manager. She has more than 20 research projects in the fields of nursing and health policy in Canada; published four refereed chapters in books, 30 papers in peer-reviewed journals, and presented more than 70 papers in refereed national and international conference proceedings
