C4: TO CARE – Clinical Scholars support clinical skill enhancement to empower team safety, well-being and belonging

A comparative analysis will consider differences between those who were and weren’t selected to participate in the Clinical Scholar’s program related to confidence, preparedness and intent to leave the employer. Predictability of the screening tool for program entry and key findings from the Clinical Scholars evaluation will also be highlighted.

Kristan Harris, OT Reg. (Ont.), MHSc, CHE; Director Professional Practice at Halton Healthcare

Kristan Harris is a Director of Professional Practice at Halton Healthcare. Having started her healthcare career 20+ years ago as an Occupational Therapist, Kristan has worked across the care continuum in home care, community hospital, academic teaching centre, and tertiary level care in Ontario and London England. Kristan has been working in healthcare leadership since 2012 as a Clinical Manager prior to her current role.

Kristan has been involved in small and large scale projects from the development and validation of a falls risk burden tool, Senior Friendly Hospital implementation in South Western Ontario, Implementing the province’s first real-time patient experience measure in Cancer Care, and more recently providing organization-wide change management through the implementation of an Electronic Medical Record. Throughout her career, Kristan has held teaching appointment and provided guest lectures at University of Toronto and Western University respectively.

Kristan has a passion for working with interprofessional teams to generate ideas, set and achieve goals that not only enhance care of patients, caregivers and the community, but also serve to support team members with the conditions to be successful and feel valued in the work they do every day. Kristan has two girls and loves cheering them on in their activities both at school and outside.
