This presentation will discuss how a mental health and addictions teaching hospital implemented a nursing mentorship program to foster the development of nurse leaders, improve retention and engagement within the organization. Outcomes and lessons learned will be shared for consideration and applicability to other organizations.

Christine Bucago is an Advanced Practice Clinical Leader at the Centre for Addiction in Mental Health. She has been a registered nurse since 2010 and has experience in a diverse range of mental health settings including general and acute psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, and emergency psychiatry. Christine has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Toronto Metropolitan University and a Master of Nursing degree from the University of Toronto and holds an Adjunct Lecturer position in the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto. Since 2016, she has been an Advanced Practice Clinical Leader in the Acute Care Program at CAMH, supporting professional practice in the Gerald Sheff and Shanitha Kachan Emergency Department.
Thu Anh Nguyen, RN, M.Ed, CPMHN(C), Advanced Practice Clinical Leader, Centre for Addiction in Mental Health
Thu Anh Nguyen has been a registered nurse since 2013 and has experience in a diverse range of mental health settings including general and acute psychiatry and forensic psychiatry. She has practiced in the role of Team Lead in forensic services, and Nurse Educator for the Nursing Resource Unit and Nursing Graduate Guarantee Initiative. Thu Anh has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from York University and a Master of Education degree from the University of Toronto. Since 2022, she has been an Advanced Practice Clinical Leader in the Acute Care Program at CAMH, supporting professional practice in the Early Psychosis Unit and Temerty.
