A Message from the NLN.ON President Donna Rothwell

Donna RothwellOn behalf of the Nursing Leadership Network of Ontario’s Board of Directors, I would like to acknowledge all of the nurses, our nursing leaders across Ontario.

To all of the nurses serving patients, residents and families, as well as those that support through leadership, research, and education in all practice settings, we thank you.

You are responding to this unprecedented event with compassion, knowledge, skill, leadership and integrity. We know that you are being asked to do more than ever before. Your care and leadership are what our patients and families are relying on during these turbulent times, each and every day.

A pandemic situation calls for extraordinary leadership from all health-care personnel. In the midst of all of this, you are providing and will continue to provide safe, competent, compassionate and ethical care to all those in need.

We know that nurses are experienced in dealing with challenging health issues, including infected patients, on a daily basis. But in this unprecedented time it requires agility, creativity and innovative options. You possess these qualities as leaders and you will be called upon in the weeks and months ahead to continue displaying them.

There are so many affected by this virus and regrettably we have experienced a number of losses. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for all that you are doing. Leaders caring for staff, so staff can care for patients and families, need to take care of themselves.

We thank you for all that you are doing in your ongoing leadership, please stay healthy and safe.
