Full-Time Education Award
Crystal Frenette
Crystal is currently pursuing her Masters of Arts in Leadership where she is conducting research related to the effects of leadership style on belief in a just world. Since receiving her BScN in 1989, Crystal has worked in a variety of roles in acute and community care and since 2007, in public health.
Student Nurse Education Award
Angel He Wang
Angel is a fourth year BScN student at Ryerson University that is heavily involved in her community through various student leadership positions. Angel is passionate about mental, community, and global health nursing. She is currently working with Ryerson faculty on a research project on best practices for international healthcare placements.
Dorothy Wylie Graduate Fellowship Award
Margaret Saari
Margaret is a third year PhD student at the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto. She is very interested in the impact of the organization and delivery of home care on patient, organizational and system outcomes. Her PhD dissertation focuses on home healthcare utilization patterns and patient outcomes for community dwelling seniors with Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias. Additionally, she is the lead research assistant on Dr. Ann Tourangeau’s MOHLTC funded study examining the impact of home care staffing on patient outcomes.
Research Award
Barbara Chyzzy
Barbara is a third year PhD student in nursing at the University of Toronto. The focus of her research is the evaluation of a mobile phone based peer support intervention to prevent postpartum depression among adolescent mothers. Barbara is also undertaking a CIHR strategic training program in primary health care.
